An exciting and energetic snare drum solo begins this composition with the woodwinds foreshadowing material soon to come and a brass introduction, which is concluded by a beautiful bassoon cadenza. “Credence” prominently features the percussion section, especially the snare drum and timpani. With plenty of time signature changes, “Credence” gives the educator an opportunity to explain non-functional major chords, polychords and chromaticism. A concert and contest favorite.
