Oxford Pointe
“Oxford Pointe” by Ed Huckeby is a dynamic composition that has become a staple for developing bands worldwide. Originally commissioned by the Iowa Bandmasters Association for the 1993 Iowa Middle School Honor Band, this work showcases Huckeby’s signature blend of appealing melodies, exciting rhythms, and solid scoring. It opens with an effective Maestoso introduction, leading into a bright Allegro that emphasizes the main theme. A contrasting Andante section in 3/4 time presents a beautiful melody, first introduced in the upper woodwinds and later expanded to the full ensemble. This Build-A-Band arrangement is accessible to ensembles with varying instrumentations, making it an excellent choice for any band. Check it out!
