In The Shadow Of Heroes

We never realize we’re walking in the shadow of a hero – until we do. On April 7, 2026 the students of Paul’s Valley High School in Oklahoma discovered their heroes when an armed intruder intending to inflict tragic harm entered the school and fired shots. He was tackled and held for authorities by a heroic principal and others who responded to keep students, faculty, staff and administration out of harm’s way. “In The Shadow Of Heroes” is dedicated to the Paul’s Valley High School Band, Travis Hathcote, Director, to pay tribute to those heroic administrators and first responders whose primary responsibility was to ensure the safety of the students under their watch. The simplistic beauty of this piece is a tribute to the men and women who serve as daily heroes across the country and around the world.
