Timothy Loest

Timothy Loest is widely recognized for his creativity, versatility, and accessibility in music. His works for young band are performed around the world, and his pedagogical methods and conducting appearances continue to inspire students and audiences at both state and national levels.

Since his first publication in 1995, Tim’s music has been released by several major print music publishers and featured on numerous network television programs, including The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Good Morning America, Extra, and Nick Jr.

With more than thirty years of classroom experience, Tim brings a deep understanding of instrumental pedagogy to his writing and teaching. In 2017, he received the Illinois Grade School Music Association’s highest honor—the Cloyd Myers Memorial Award for Excellence in Music Education.

Tim earned his Bachelor of Music Education degree with high honors from Illinois State University and his Master of Music degree with program honors from Northwestern University. A member of ASCAP, the Illinois Grade School Music Association, and Christian Educators, he spent his entire teaching career at F.E. Peacock Middle School in Itasca, Illinois. He currently resides in Wheaton, Illinois, with his wife Cindy and their two sons.
