Cory J. McBride

Cory J. McBride currently serves as the 9-12th grade band director in the Oelwein Community School District (Iowa) and holds a degree from the University of Northern Iowa in Music Education and Music Composition-Theory. As an educator, he oversees high school concert band, marching band, and jazz band. He also teaches classes in music concert technology, music theory and leads clubs in modern band. Mr. McBride is an up-and-coming composer of educational, instrumental music, having been recognized nationally for his works. His compositions have received performances from ensembles in countries world-wide. He stays busy composing new works for band, jazz band, solo and chamber ensembles, and drumline, while also making appearances as an adjudicator, clinician, and guest director. He is an active member of the Iowa Bandmasters Association, Jazz Educators of Iowa, and ASCAP. When not composing or teaching, Mr. McBride is also an avid performer (percussion/drum set), performing locally and regionally in several music groups.
